BioRunway
Illuminating the fabrics of change: the past, present, and future of biotech and fashion.
Meet the team
Joanna has spent more than a decade asking (and answering) "what else can biology do?" With a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Toronto, she is the Director of Research at Xylome, where she uses metabolic engineering to develop high value, sustainable products from non-conventional yeasts. She thrives in the space where science, design, and consumer perspectives meet to impact the future of fashion.
Endlessly interested in where different disciplines overlap in unexpected ways, Aleks loves fashion, sport, science, and tech — and is especially intrigued by where they intersect. By day she is a marketing communicator with extensive experience in overseeing, writing, and editing content across various categories such as life sciences, retail tech, and HR. By night she dives deep on what's next in what we wear and how it's made.
Caitlin turned curiosity into a career, first as a journalist and then as a writer and researcher, most recently as Head of Research at a global HRtech company. There's nothing she likes more than translating science and research into something everyone can understand and enjoy. At BioRunway she channels her passion for science communication into stories that connect the dots between the past, present, and future of fashion and textiles.
Obsessed (in a fun way) with form and function, Taryn brings more than 10 years of experience working in product design to his role at BioRunway. He cares deeply about user experience, meticulously crafting every click, scroll, and animation. Part designer, part developer, part UX detective — Taryn is fascinated by how small design changes impact our experience with brand, content, and technology.
